Passed through Stockport on my way to Manchester and boy does it go on and on and on. This is my first really big city and I’m passing right through the middle. One thing I’ve noticed is the Google Streetview data works surprisingly well with big, tall buildings.

Saw the story about your project in The Verve. It’s very inspiring. I’ve been interested in the possibility of hooking up exercise equipment to VR. But I had no idea that street view was an option. I run, but struggle to maintain interest in my exercise bike. I would love to try this myself (although starting with a much less ambitious goal–such as cycling the Lower Sabie Road in our Kruger wildlife reserve).

Would it be possible to use the software you’ve written? Do you intend to make it available?

  2. At the moment my app is far too unstable to be released to the public. It’s also missing any sort of user interface. My plan is to try and release this as a proper commercial product once I’m done cycling. My biggest problem will be convincing Google that it’s ok to download 300MB of their texture maps everyday 🙂

    Anyway stay tuned…
